New investor from Houston Texas
Hi all.
My name is Anant Lal, and I am just starting out in my real estate investing career. I live in Sugar Land, but am planning on moving sometime soon.
I came out to the November 6th Bigger Pockets meeting at Third Floor and had a ton of fun. Got to meet some pretty cool people and I had some positive discussions about the Houston market with everyone. I'll see everyone at the December meetup!
I've been catching up on all the Bigger Pockets podcasts! Great stuff @BrandenTurner and @Joshua Dorkin . I've been listening for a week, and I am almost caught up to Episode 96. I've been listening in the bathroom, on my drive to work, at work, and everywhere else in between.
Speaking of work, I am a chemical engineer working in the Oil and Gas Sector.
I've been interested in real estate since I was a kid. I had the idea to buy and rent properties. Something about having someone else pay off the mortgage sounded really appealing to me. I put together a business plan, but the idea of doing a bunch of rehab work didn't seem to appeal to my other 12 year old friends. For some reason, none of the adults really wanted to loan a 12 year old kid 100K+ to invest either.
I now have my own job and can spend my own money investing in real estate. I'm looking at buy and hold properties. Currently looking around the Third Ward area, and around the University of Houston for single and multi-family properties in the 100k-200k range. I'm likely going to go FHA for my first property. I am going to live there for a year, and then buy a new one. I'll be trying to post some deal analysis in the next few weeks and I hope I can get some feed back on what I am doing right and wrong.
Look forward to meeting and learning from everyone here!
