Newbie from Norway, wanting to invest in the UK

Hello everyone,

My name is Bart Weeren, I am bit of a traveler type of person, I am originally from The Netherlands, I am currently living and working in Norway. In the near future I will be moving away from this beautiful but icy country. I will be moving towards UK, London.

I have never been a big spender, I saved a bit of money for myself. Now after reading some books, it seems the best thing to do with the money I have, is investing it into real estate. Me and my girlfriend actually love the idea to invest into a property, refurbishing it and renting it out. I would just like to learn the best ways to do it! :)

I have read the following books:

  • The ultimate beginners guide, bigger pockets
  • Rich dad poor dad, Robert Kiyosaki
  • Cashflow quadrant, Robert Kiyosaki
  • Unfair advantage, Robert Kiyosaki

Also i have attended a three day seminar from BrickBuyBrick, the information i acquired from the seminar was "ok", they tried promoting their mentor services for a crazy sum of money. I felt there was a cheaper way of learning how to get into real estate investing, so I stumbled on this lovely website here.

I will be trying to learn as much as I can from you guys and the website.

My short term goal is to successfully go trough the experience of buying and letting my first property. Hopefully I can find some people that have been or are willing to share their awesome first time experience in buying their first property

Thanks for reading,

I will be actively browsing the website/forums to obtain awesome info.

Welcome. Did you consider investing in the US. Time to build the foundation below.

Check out the Start Here page http://www.biggerpockets.com/starthere

Check out the free BiggerPockets Podcast - A weekly podcast with interviews and a ton of great advice. And you get the benefit of having over 80 past ones to catch up on.

Two Great reads, I bought both J. Scott The Book on Flipping Houses,The Book on Estimating ReHab Costshttp://www.biggerpockets.com/flippingbook

Locate and attend 3 different local REIA club meetings great place to meet people gather resources and info. Here you will meet wholesalers who provide deals and all the cash buyers (rehabbers) you will need.

You might consider Niche or Specialized Housing like student housing. Rents can be 2-4 times more. Remember you don't have to own a property to control it.

Download BP’s newest book here some good due diligence in Chapter 10. Real Estate Rewind Starting over
