finally joined & posted
Hi, I've mostly been a lurker up to this point but I wanted to get more out of the BP forums.
I recently started a thread with a flooring question and touched on my story there but for a bit more...
I was smart enough or dumb enough to go from renting to buying a house that needed a full rehab. The plan was to live in it for 2 yrs, fix it up slowly, sell it for a profit and use some of the proceeds to fund more real estate deals.
It hasn't been easy thus far. I had no experience. Not handy, especially since I had been a renter for so long. Have made lots of mistakes in hindsight despite trying to research. Haven't found a good team yet, every contractor I've used has been a "single serving" contractor except the carpet guy. Could've saved more money on some things but didn't. The list goes on...
I tried to follow the most important rules though and tried to buy low enough and in a good location. Thanks for the insight and I look fwd to staying for a while and sharing along the way.
