How does a literature teacher and busy mom of 5 finally believe her husband that real estate is what she should be doing? For me, it all begins and ends with 'story.' I went from falling asleep during real estate podcasts to now eagerly sending out yellow letters, all because I found the human story in real estate. This is most apparent in the direct marketing approach of acquiring property where we meet with sellers. I've heard people say they hate to work with sellers, but I honestly don't believe I would like this if I didn't. Even as I pore over equity lists, I picture real people, living their lives at these addresses. I don't know if they need our services or not, but the ones that do have stories to tell.

Passive income opportunities that real estate investing provide can be exciting for families.  Houston is a GREAT area because of the tremendous growth that the region is experiencing.  There's a learning curve, but you are in a good place to make that process as uneventful as possible.  Additionally, you have wiggle room to make small mistakes as you earn without severe consequences.

You are right, thouh.  The human element does exist, and that can be particularly meaningful to people such as yourself.

Good luck!

@Will Porter I think the biggest difference was a shift in my energy level towards getting involved. I started churning out letters before my school year ended last spring and by the end of June, I had replaced my last two years' salary (granted, private school salary, which is not much!). Overall, my enthusiasm has greatly increased...and I even like listening to podcasts now!

Wow that's awesome. Can you tell us more about those deals? You made the salary of two years in a few months?!
