Intro: Future Investor Moving to Destin, FL

Greetings!

I'm currently serving on active duty in the Air Force at Whiteman AFB, MO (about 1 hour east of Kansas City). My enlistment ends in May, 2008, so I will be moving to the Destin, FL area at that time.

My fiancee' is also currently active duty Air Force here at Whiteman, but she is ending her enlistment early to serve in the Air Force Reserves at Eglin AFB, FL, which is why I will be moving down to FL when my enlistment is completed.

I have a bachelor's degree in Finance and have always been very interested in investing and working with money. As a matter of fact, I daytraded on the NASDAQ market the summer after my high school graduation with what little amount of savings I had. I didn't make any money but learned plenty.

My current plan is to seek out a real estate developer / investor in the Destin, FL area for whom to work. This should generate some experience for me and should also provide a somewhat stable income which I can use to start some of my own investments. My biggest limiting factor, right now -- despite not even currently LIVING in Florida -- is capital. I am not looking to make millions of dollars in a matter of months but instead hope to build up a portfolio of winners that will set my family and me up for life 10 or 15 (or more) years down the road.

With that introduction and background on my plans for the future, does anyone have any insight? Perhaps a lead on employment or an offer to come join you in your real estate investing excursions. :D
