New to BP - Seasoned Investor in MD, DC, VA area

Hello BP –

This is Maurice…

I am very excited to finally become a member. I have been listening to the podcasts for a while. I have been investing in residential real estate since 2002, primarily single family homes and condos in Maryland, DC and Virginia. Over that time I have been involved around 150 transactions. I have also been involved in deals in Massachusetts and Maine, helping my family achieve their goals.

I am primarily a buy-and-hold investor for the purposes of long term cash flow, but I have done equity based deals as well. Once I achieved my first goal of replacing my primary work salary with passive income I knew real estate investing was for me. I am now working on generating additional passive income via additional purchases, optimizing what I already have, and also getting involved other passive incomes vehicles. For example, I am an investor owner in several restaurants generating passive income based on my investment percentages. While I still work for employers, I am “Boss-Optional”. I stay with my employers because I love what I do.

I am looking to network with people in and out of my area, not just for the purpose of real estate deals, but because I like being around like-minded people. That is important to me.

I do mentor some ‘newbie’ investors… but I am also looking to gain mentors for myself and learn from people who are at my level of investing, and of course those who have done bigger and better than me. That is why I am here. If you are a seasoned investor, please get in touch so we can network, exchange stories and learn from each other.

I am looking forward to being part of this community, learning from you and giving back what I have learned over the years.

Maurice

@Maurice P.

Welcome fellow Bigger Pockets member! This is a great forum and I am sure it will help you learn many facets of the real estate investment world. I purchased my first investment property over 40 years ago and only wish that I had a resource like BP community when I got started! So you are in a good company.

Some say that your net-worth equals your network, and this is the place to make right connections. You should also find investors locally and network with them face-to-face. Find people close to you using MEET feature. Also, look for investor meetings on Meetup.

All the best!
