Hello BiggerPockets!
Long time reader, first time poster here! I just wanted to introduce myself. I have been reading books and the forums on BP and listening to the podcasts and I'm getting really excited about real estate investing. I'm so excited in fact, that I can't stop thinking about my future plans. I don't sleep well at night anymore, hah. I guess that just tells me this is something that I'm passionate about.
All my life, I have wondered what I should do as a career. I have tried many things to only go through failure after failure. Then I just had enough. I was so unhappy with me life and the way it was headed. I was tired of trying to find where I fit in. I wanted to get out of the corporate world. So I started thinking of ways that would let me do that.
Ever since I was young, I loved houses. I loved going over to see my friends houses and imagine what it would be like to live there. When I would drive around, I would see run down houses and imagine what they might look like if they were fixed up. I would always think about how my dream house would look. I like houses so much that I even went to school to be an architect (though that only lasted a year...).
So when I started looking into ways I could leave my job, I started looking into real estate investing. I always thought, in the past, that a real estate investor was a scheming get rich kind of person who only cared about getting your money. But as I looked into it more, most of them were people like me. Just looking for a better way of life. And some of them didn't just do it for the money, but for other reasons as well, like improving the community. And that opened up my eyes to the potential real estate investing had. You could help others and help improve the quality of life in an area. And, just think about what you could do with the money you gain from it! The possibilities are endless!
So I decided that was my path. I would start to invest in real estate and at the same time improve the community in my targeted area. Thank you for taking the time to read this! I'm looking forward to getting to know some you and chatting about real estate.
