Late Bloomer in Cincinnati!
I am a mid-50's newbie in the Cincinnati-area finally looking to pursue my fantasy of becoming a real estate investor - Better late than never, I say! I love the idea of creating a Win-Win-Win situation that benefits not only my bottom-line, but the community where the properties exist, and the buyers/residence who move in. I've had this dream for quite some time, and now that I am semi-retired and an empty-nester, my husband and I have decided that I should finally "Go for it!"
I stumbled upon BP a few weeks ago (what a treasure trove of goodwill and information!) and have been like a sponge trying to soak up information. I've recently joined the local REIA group and have done all of the requisite reading that BP'ers have suggested:
- "Start Here"
- Podcasts
- "Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Real Estate Investing"
- J. Scott book on "How to Flip Houses"
- BP Publication on "How to Estimate Rehabs"
I'm starting to connect with experienced investors in the Cincinnati market who understand that I am a willing and eager learner, and am poised to find my way (and support others) on this journey. I'll be finalizing my business plan and goals within the next week. My self-imposed clock starts ticking on June 1st and I hope to purchase my first property within 90-days. My initial focus will be on buying/selling SFHs, but as I grow in experience and confidence, I'll explore small/mid-size multi-family units as well. Wish me luck on this journey, and I wish the same to all of you!
