New investor from Elizabeth NJ!

Hello,

My name is Bill and I live in Elizabeth NJ which is about 30 minutes from NYC, (I actually live right across from Staten Island). I have wanted to invest in real estate for years but always found excuses not to, but in the last 6 months I realized that there will always be a reasonable excuse not to do something... this is the year I move past those excuses and naysayers.

My goal for investing is twofold, first of all I am looking to build income through rentals. I am also curious about flips to build income. I have a good career that I am happy with so I can patiently build monthly cash flow, or deal with less lucrative flips while I learn the business. I just want to move forward with each deal.

My second goal is to find some property that I can build equity with for my retirement. I am relatively young (42) and I enjoy the type of work I do so I am not looking to get rich quick. I just want to supplement my retirement portfolio so that I can keep my goal of retiring to a life of fishing on my boat at 60(ish).

I am looking forward at learning from all of you, and finding a path to success in this endeavor.
