Newbie from Atlanta, GA

Hi, I'm Horacesio Carmichael a full-time IT security professional, National Guard military officer, and a newbie in real estate investing. I plan to continue working full-time and invest on the side. A few years ago I completed a real estate sales pre-licensing course but decided not to move forward with obtaining my license. I have been reading and researching books and posts on BP over the past few months and I think it’s finally time to take the next step. I’m looking to invest in the Greater Atlanta, GA area focused on the buy and hold strategy with occasional flips on single family and 2-4 unit properties.

My goal is to purchase my 1st investment property before the end of the year and go from there. I'm looking to gain as much knowledge about REI as possible from BP, books, networking, mentor/advisor, etc. Any information about REI organizations and events in the Atlanta area will be much appreciated. I'm motivated to learn and I do not mind putting in some "grunt work" to learn from an experienced investor. I'm looking forward to learning more through the BP community and providing my experiences as well.
