New investor in the Denver/Colorado Springs Area

Hello everyone,

I am currently deployed with US Army in the sandbox. I have grown up in Colorado most of my life, and I love the Denver/Boulder/Fort Collins triangle.

I started investing in securities as a value investor. I have done well teaching others (in my Army units) basic portfolio allocations and finance concepts. I also used to work for a bank and mortgage fraud investigation company; which is what sparked my interest into the real estate world.

I have a strong finance background, and have always been intrigued with real estate. I parallel a lot of stock investing knowledge with my real estate transactions, as any value investor buys with a margin of safety. I am attempting on doing my due diligence before I pursue this passion, as I understand the seriousness of mistakes in this business. I have read numerous books on real estate finance as well as investing and property management with regards to buy and hold properties.

I would like to network with other investors of both Bigger Pockets and the Colorado area. I have TONS of learning to do before jumping in with both feet, and I have come to appreciate and value the information on this forum. Just know that this forum is not only read locally, but somewhere in the Middle East is regular learning from the seasoned veterans of this forum!

I will be returning from deployment this summer, and will be looking at starting in the wholesale business side. After some time with wholesale, I hope to transition into a buy/hold strategy. I understand the Colorado market is hard, as their are tons of established investors already.

All of your thoughts and opinions are highly valued.
