Newbie in northern Arkansas

Hello everyone! My name is Porter Avise and I am beginning my journey into real estate investing here in rural north central Arkansas. I am a newbie to REI, but so anxious to learn more. I have been lurking around the BP forums, listening to podcasts, and reading books for a few months so I figured I should take the time to introduce myself. Here is a little bit about me and my current situation. I work full time as a computer technician for our local school district, which is also where I graduated. For the past year and a half I have been a property manager for my grandmother who owns several rentals in the area. This has really sparked my interest in the business. Over this time period, I read “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” “Landlording on Autopilot” and many others. After that, I began looking for my first property. Hearing this, my grandmother suggested she could sell one of hers to me since she is slowly getting out of the business. She gave me a more than fair price and I went off to the bank to get a loan. Long story short, I have my first investment property and am in the process of a remodel to bring the house up to standards. I have several potential tenants that I am in the process of screening for when the remodel is complete. I hope to be able to post back with progress in the near future.

As for my basic goals.. At this time I am mainly interested in Flipping along with some Buy&Holds as rentals if the deal seems right.

I have enjoyed reading dozens upon dozens of BP Blogs and comments that go with them. Really glad to be part of the BP community!
