Hubs and wife team just starting out in the Baltimore area

Hello! :) Sam and Heather Jones here, we are budding buy and hold investors nearabouts Baltimore, Maryland. We've been biggerpocket addicts ever since Sam stumbled upon Brandon Turner's (not sure how to tag) article “How to Start Investing In Real Estate at a Young Age” and are in the process of soaking up all the BP forum threads, articles, webinars, and podcasts that we can while we create our first deal. Not sure how a shared login will fly around these parts so we might end up creating individual logins, but still thought a joint-introduction post would be acceptable ;)

Sam is originally from England and has a background in teaching and sports coaching. Heather’s background is in web development but had ties for many years to the real estate industry. We both have a strong passion (understatement) for real estate, investing, and a desire to better our community. We’ve been bit by “that bug” :)

We live in northern Maryland with two kids and two dogs on an acre of land, about ten minutes from civilization. We are looking forward to getting to know the community here, will surely have a bajillion questions and look forward to our inevitable graduation from newb's to seasoned vets!

Welcome to the community Sam and Heather

I'm a relative newbie myself - just like you, educating myself as much as I can and gearing up for that first deal. I live in Harford County. Havre de Grace, North East and Newark DE are towns near you that have always appealed to me from a "community" and real estate investment standpoint.

There's definitely lots of great resources on this site - if you haven't already done so, I recommend going through the BP Real Estate Investor Begginer's Guide. Also - I recently joined the Baltimore REIA. I know you're not interested in Baltimore City at this point - but it's really a regional REIA. In fact, there's a Harford County sub-group that meets the first Thursday of the month at Giovanni's in Edgewood. There's a couple people in that group with experience in Cecil County. Look it up or feel free to contact me if you want more information.
