Hello BiggerPockets! New PRO here

Alexander Davila
Posted

Hello BiggerPockets community! I'm Alexander Davila from Mundelein IL (Little Suburb North of Chicago), I've been digging deep about real estate investing for little more than 6 months. I'm particularly passionate about BRRR, Fix n' Flip, Buy n' Hold, STR, LTR. Side note, I'm on my way to get my Real Estate License, just passed the exam and starting the interview process with different companies hoping to find the right one . I've been an entrepreneur for about 15 years now and since my first adventure as a entrepreneur was in a construction related trade, I consider myself very handy and somehow capable to deal with contractors. I also have experience with retail, both my wife and I started and used to run a clothing shop while we both were busy (me with my company and she with a corporate job), for around 5 years before we decided to sell it. Currently, I run a small sign shop here in Mundelein. So as you all can imagine, I've been exposed to the risk more than once, but also to the rewards.

Outside of real estate, I enjoy spending time with my wife and family, enjoying the outdoors, traveling when possible. Also, love to work out as much as I can in things like running, bicycle, jumping rope, and lifting weights-no ripped or jacked by any means-but thinking in the long term benefit (like in real estate). Big fan of everything music related: concerts, musicals, and of course karaoke lol.

I'm quite new in this amazing and exciting world but also a quick learner, so if there's any way that this newbie can bring value to anyone's adventure, I'm more than willing to help.

Excited to learn and connect with you all!

Hello there @Alexander Davila and welcome to the Chicago BiggerPockets community.

It's great to hear your story thank you for sharing!  I am curious what you did with the construction related trade in the business world?

We have a general contracting business here in Chicago that we started about 3 years ago and the ups and downs of running a trade-related business are inexplainable to someone who has not been in the industry.

If you have some specific needs happy to point you in a direction from my experience thus far in the real estate space.  I've found that in-person networking events are the best place to meet the movers and shakers!

I am also a karaoke fan lol!

Hey @Jonathan Klemm, totally agree with you about how hard can be trying to explain the in and outs of the construction industry.

In regards on my experience on that field, I use to run a Glazier Company back in my country (I'm originally from Venezuela), for more reference on that company please check @aluminioscosta on Instagram. Also, even though that wasn't the main purpose of the company, since we were in the construction field we were able to tackle various renovation/construction projects that involved more that just glass. We were able to gather a group of subcontractors for different specialties where I was technically the GC. It was a really awesome experience. I can talk more over a coffee lol.

In regards of specific needs, I'll sure have those, let's talk.
