Hello biggerpockets. I would like to introduce myself to the community and hopefully make some connections. A lot can be learned just from the posts and learning material, and I thank you all for that.

Early in my 20's, I considered real estate to be a good career, but ended up with an engineering degree and currently work in the energy sector. This has come to be a blessing, considering I now have the liquidity to actually invest! My plan is to continue working until enough real estate is amassed to support a comfortable lifestyle.

REI experience: purchased REO in 2010, renovated, currently my residence. Purchased duplex in 2013, fully rented. Looking for next property, most likely a single family home to flip. Thus far, I've used all cash to purchase.

Thanks,

Nathan

@Liam I grew up in the South Hills area of Pittsburgh and this is where I chose to invest since I know the area well. Also keeping the properties close to the home base in case of an emergency. It is my understanding the Pittsburgh market is a stable one but the surrounding areas see some fluctuation perhaps due to urban sprawl. Seems like you can find the best deals buying REO's and foreclosures in one of the many unique Pittsburgh neighborhoods. For example, South Side, an old neighborhood along the river but close to the city has a vibrant college/artist population and will pay big rents. Hope this helps to start.

You guessed it, oil and gas. Are you in college or just live in State College?
