Embarking on a Real Estate Journey from Brooklyn to the Hudson and Housatonic Valleys

Hello BiggerPockets Community!

🌎 I'm thrilled to join you all from Brooklyn, NY! My investment sights are set on the scenic Hudson and Housatonic Valleys, where I see tremendous growth and community development potential.

💫 My immediate goal is to purchase my first rental property within a year. I plan to transform an undervalued single-family home into a 'Pretty Good House' that balances being eco-friendly, affordable, and comfortable, all while keeping its charm. It's all about breathing new life into properties and helping them fit seamlessly into their communities.

🏠 My wife's persistent encouragement sparked my journey into real estate investing. It wasn't until I read "Rich Dad Poor Dad" that I truly understood the potential and dived in headfirst. This was just the beginning. I furthered my education by reading "Writing Winning Business Plans" by Garrett Sutton, "Tax-Free Wealth" by Tom Wheelwright, and, naturally, "The Book on Rental Property Investing" by Brandon Turner. Currently, I'm delving into "Real Estate by the Numbers" by J Scott and Dave Meyer. Embracing a full-speed-ahead approach, I've drafted a rough business plan and developed a Progressive Web App (PWA) calculator, a tool to help me evaluate properties, determine appropriate rent, and calculate tax deductions – it's all about being prepared!

I'm here to learn, share, and grow with all of you. Looking forward to this adventure! 🚀🏡

Your wife sounds very smart and a great partner to have in your RE journey. You would be surprised how many investors got started after reading Rich Dad Poor Dad. It feels like almost everyone lol
