New Member from SoCal, looking to invest out-of-town (Central New York/Syracuse)

Hi All,

I'm a new member, currently living in L.A. Looking to invest in real estate to ensure my long-term financial security. My plan is to buy and hold MFR properties and eventually have a portfolio that can replace a full-time income in retirement.

Right now I'm looking at investing in the Syracuse, NY area since A) I can afford to buy there and B) my family still lives there, so I have an opportunity to travel back 2-3 times a year. I'm open to other areas as well.

I'm not looking to take on landlording at the moment, so I plan to hire a property management company to manage day-to-day issues.

But basically, I'm brand new to this and am just looking to glean as much information and network as much as possible, so I can make sure I'm making successful, informed decisions.

I'm happy to answer any questions or take any advice you folks may have to offer.

Thanks very much!
