Getting into REI as a Software Engineer and Data Scientist

Hi BP Community,

Long time lurker, finally made my account. My background is in artificial intelligence research, and building high-throughput underwriting systems, and most recently I served as a founding engineer at a financial technology startup.

I'm super excited to finally get into the RE space and would love to meet experienced folks in the field and learn the ropes. If you have any tech problems or processes that tech could potentially help with, I would love to a resource or brainstorm solutions.

Super excited to connect!

Max,

Great to have you on BiggerPockets!

What strategy are you looking to pursue with real estate? I'm a newbie just like you and have embraced the idea of house hacking my first deal.

My significant other and I just graduated college, have solid W2s and are saving up our funds to get into our first property.

Definitely look into house hacking as it is a way to get into property with relatively low money down (3.5-5% down + closing costs and other fees). You get to live in your property and learn how to manage property on site.

All the best to you!
