New Grant Writing BU Member

Hi everyone, I'm Dan Shaffer and I run a consulting firm, Community Charge, that primarily writes grants for nonprofit organizations. I'll occasionally help with strategic planning or program development, but the grant planning and writing services have the most demand.

I'm slowly shifting my focus and my clients towards affordable housing/real estate. My oldest client is a nonprofit housing developer and I've helped them raise ~$6M for a 12-unit mixed-use development they're working on. The process has been frustrating at times, but also incredibly rewarding when grants come through and the project is able to advance (we are only a few months away from groundbreaking!)

I found BU while doing some research about budgeting for rehab projects as one of my nonprofit clients recently started an LLC subsidiary and they are looking to have the LLC focus on home rehabs to generate revenue for the nonprofit. I have yet to really dig in to the BU forums and see what knowledge and resources are out there but I'm looking forward to networking and sharing my expertise with everyone.
