21 Year Old Looking for Help to Make A Life Long Career of Real Estate Investing

Hello everybody!

I am a college student at Texas Tech University. I am majoring in interior design because my passion has always been everything relating to houses. However, after a couple summers of working full time jobs I realized that there is so much in life I want to enjoy that is just not possible if I am glued to a desk forty hours a week. That being said, I am extremely driven and willing to do pretty much anything to make this dream a reality.

Here's some background on my investing journey so far. I got lucky in 2019 during the crypto boom and made a good chunk of money. In February I used about half of that money to put a 20% down payment on a new construction single family home near campus that I got for $222,000 using conventional financing at about 5.5%. I am currently renting that property out at $2100 a month, which is producing $662 in cash flow. When I bought the property my goal was to put all the earnings back into the house as equity and pay it off asap just to have the extra two grand a month for the rest of my life. However, since then my dreams have changed and I plan on saving the earnings to be able to purchase a house to flip when the time is right.

I am so fortunate to realize this career goal while I am still on my parents bank roll, and am in no hurry to make deals. I want to take this time to learn everything I can so when the time does come for me to jump into the industry further I can minimize the possible uneducated mistakes.

I have been listening to the Bigger Pockets podcast for two hours a day on my commutes to and from work. However, I totally understand that there is only so much you can learn with out experiencing the process of flipping and investing in real life. So that is my purpose for coming onto this fabulous cite. I am hoping to find as much advice and help as I can get. So... anyone in the Lubbock area who is willing and happy to share some knowledge and experience with a baby investor please contact me!

If you've gotten this far, thank you for you time!
