welcome to the BP community and congrats on getting started with REI.

my favorite resource to suggest to people first getting started is to head over to www.meetup.com and start looking for REI meetups in your area to attend. you will be surprised by the diversity of real estate professionals and likeminded individuals you will meet at them and they are also a lot of fun and usually casual events.
