New Member looking to build Relationships

Hi Everyone,

I am extremely new to REI, and am looking to find other investors/agents/contractors/etc. in the Wilmington, NC area. I started this journey about 2 months ago after watching a few of my friends successfully start their REI careers and my motivation really jumped into high gear after reading Rich Dad Poor Dad and Brandon Turner's Book on Rental Property Investing

If there are any other books/resources that you can recommend reading as I get started learning, that would be appreciated. I have relatively low capital to get started ($20,000 or less), and really want to start building relationships with those in my area who are also currently investing in real estate deals to learn about the local market and particularly find reputable lenders. This will give me time to learn and network while I build up a nest of savings to get started.

Thank you in advance for any information/advice you are able to offer!

J

Welcome to the exciting world of real estate investment! It's great to hear that you are motivated and eager to learn more about this field. It's also good to know that you are taking a practical approach by building relationships with other investors, agents, and contractors in your local area.

BiggerPockets is a fantastic resource for real estate investors, and it's great to see that you are utilizing this platform. In addition to the books you've already mentioned, I would also recommend checking out "The Millionaire Real Estate Investor" by Gary Keller and "The Book on Investing in Real Estate with No (and Low) Money Down" by Brandon Turner. These books can provide valuable insights and strategies for investors with limited capital.

Networking is key to success in real estate, so attending local real estate investment clubs, meetups, and events can also be a great way to connect with other investors and industry professionals. In addition, consider reaching out to local real estate agents who specialize in investment properties, as they can provide valuable market insights and potential investment opportunities.

Best of luck as you continue on your real estate investment journey!
