Semi-newbie from Arlington, Tx

Hello everyone,

My name is Ben West, I live in Arlington, Tx. My father first started investing in RE around 1972. He was an Army officer looking for a better retirement package. Long story short, he accumulated 28 Single family rental properties. Our family has been active property managers from the beginning.
My father died in 2007, and after a 2 year transition period, my mother now handles all aspects of the business.
Why am I here?
1) To start my own portfolio. Utilizing the Bank-of-Mom as the hard money lender.
2) To aid my mother in expanding her portfolio into Multi-family housing.

My goal is to close on 3 properties in 2014.

I've been lurking on the site now for about a week, learning, learning, learning.
