Where Do I Start

My family and I decided we wanted to get involved in our community for low income family housing. We have been wanting to get into real estate investing for awhile. My wife and I have had this passion for awhile. We are now taking action, she is working on taking her state exam for her license to be a real estate agent. And I'm trying to educate myself on investment side. We have some capital, 401k & equity in our home, but nothing significant. We have a team of 4 to take this journey. How and where do we start?
