Aloha BP Members!

I'm Pat, and my fiancé and I live in Hawaii and we're excited for the future! I'll be "retiring" from the military in the fall of 2015. That gives us some good passive income and benefits as a safety net, and it opens me up to new opportunities to learn and do new things.

I've owned 4 houses before, including completely restoring a 1940's dutch colonial in Ohio that I did almost all the work on, but we currently rent as it made more financial sense for the moment. I've got years of non-realestate experience with complex planning, developing and executing contracts, project management, and team management that I think will come in handy for investing in real-estate.

I've started drafting a few business plans for what I want to do next and real-estate investment is at the top of my list right now. My goals over the next 10 years are to create a mostly passive income stream of $40K annually through investment, have fun doing it, and to support other local small businesses.

I am very impressed by the community on this forum and can't wait to learn more from folks here. It reminds me of another forum (Pelican Parts) that I used to be very active in a decade ago and made life-long friends from. They are dedicated to all things Porsche and focus on DIY maintenance and restoration, but the community is so similar to here where people were constantly sharing with each other, meeting in groups off-line, and helping each other in what-ever way they could.
