New from Harford County, MD

Good morning!

Just wanted to introduce myself. I am a new member in Harford County, MD looking to get into rental properties in my area. I am just getting started with my research and looking into the ins and outs of what I want to do. My goal would be to get started with a property by next Spring. I have been looking into townhomes, however I am thinking about looking into multifamily dwellings as well. I have a background in Engineering and Construction (as well as Fire/EMS) and plan on doing most, if not all, initial renovations myself, and repairs myself.

I know I need to do a lot of research into the financing and legal aspects of how to buy the properties and how to protect them and myself. I have talked to a few resources with past experience managing/owning rental properties but any additional help or information would be greatly appreciated! I plan on spending some time reading as much as I can, as time allows, to get a better idea of how this would play out.

Thanks!
