Hi all,
Let me introduce myself. I come from Paris, France not Texas, I am 36, I have recently been transfered with my family by my company (software editor) to the San Francisco area under an L1 Visa for 3 years. I have invested in France in buying and restoring Historical monuments (3 properties) and own a house in Provence (south of France) that I get rents from as well.
I make a very good living here and am not trying to become a real estate investor to get out of debt but am rather coming here with a fairly important amount of cash in the bank that I would like to invest in real estate.
I would like to participate in your forum and start building a network because laws and possibilities in the US are very different from what I used to deal with in France and I would like to avoid the most common mistakes right from the start.
If I can help with my knowledge of real estate in France or Cuisine tips, it will be my pleasure. I am sure I will be able to learn a lot from you guys but above all, I am willing to start ASAP. I have chosen to do the flip and fix type of investments in my region.
I was wondering if my status (L1 visa) could be a problem in investing in real estate (being an alien)? and also, I would like to invest more and more time in this new business and less time in my current job, meaning maybe losing my Visa. Is it possible to continue to do these deals from abroad?
Thanks for your time and warm welcome and please be cool with the language errors ;-)
