I am new to the forum but long time listener of the podcast. My 9-5 job is managing a ranch and I own a hunting and fishing outfitting business. I have plans to buy investment properties in the future, but my most immediate concern is that wife, children, dogs, livestock have a home.
We are in escrow on a place now, cleared too close and should be in it by September. Beautiful place, several acres (over 15), and creek front with a swimming hole. It ticks all our boxes. Included is a second unit that is a tear down (will be rebuilding myself). Potential for another unit on the property as well. After close we are going to be more serious about purchasing other investment properties.
I'm interested in short or long-term rentals in markets in Northern California that I'm familiar with. Not afraid to invest longer distance but I think there is opportunity out my backdoor (within 150 miles).
I have a peculiar taste for my own living conditions (rural, space, privacy) and I'm most interested in unique properties that offer more than just a typical house in the city. Numbers are important but I'll be looking for "special" properties. Also water is very important to me.
Also interested in building relationships with real estate agents in either Arcata, Eureka and/or Willow Creek, ones willing to travel to rural parts of Humboldt county and surrounding areas. Need to find the right agent for our next purchase(s), probably won't use the agent we have now again - he is knowledgeable enough in RE but relationships really matter and that gets a little lost on him a tad. If I can't find one that fits the bill, I've considered becoming one.
Including a couple pics of the creek spot on the property we are buying for fun.
