New Real Estate Investor
Hello everybody. I am Andrew Low. I am new to real estate investing. My wife and I live in Greeley, Colorado. We are moving to San Antonio, Texas by the end of the year. I have read several books, watched several YouTube videos, and have read forums out this topic. I do not have any properties yet, but am looking to purchase my first. I am looking in the San Antonio, Texas and Austin, Texas area for apartment communities. I do not have money for a downpayment. I have researched about different types of financing and loans. I am looking for guidance, relationships, advice. Anything that can help myself and this community on Bigger pockets to move forward.
Thank you for your time and your replies.

@Andrew Low congrats on all your education and interest to take action! I do feel you may be putting the cart before the horse so to speak. Do you own a primary home? Would you be willing to purchase a duplex to live on one side and rent out the other? As David Greene stated on a recent podcast, you need two things to be a good investor: capital and discipline. It doesn't sound like you have capital and I recommend focusing on saving cash reserves first and down payment for your first primary home. If you can house hack, that will get you started better than taking on a large investment without cash reserves. In Austin, a small 6-10 unit apartment complex will run well over $1M and will need a lot of work. San Antonio is cheaper, but not cheap. Get started by purchasing a good primary home and start building equity. My two cents!
