Realtor - Newbie Investor from New Orleans

¡Hola Big Pockets!

I'm Chris from NOLA - and I'm brand new here as of about a week (sorry I've been lurking until now) and all I've got to say is WOW what an amazing resource.

Here's my story:

18 - Buy Carlton Sheets DVD (its ok I'm laughing too as I type)
20 - Get my RE licence
22 - Decide I need a "payckeck" to pay for my first home, go get a salary sales job.
28 (today) - I make great money, but loathe what I do and especially who I do it for. I do about 2-3 buyer transactions a year for friends and family with my licence and own a business with my wife that sells womens watches.

So that takes me to today - I've haphazardly set myself up pretty decently for my first deal with regard to financing and analyzing it. I'm looking forward to getting my feet wet, but I'm going to go slow and steady (which is going to be a challenge for me). (I'm currently devouring books - any suggestions?)

My goal is to buy and hold for passive income and eventually start flipping to feed me and my wife's addiction to design and shiny new things!

I'd love to meet and greet with anyone with a like mindset. I'm especially interested in those investing in NOLA but will talk to anyone about investing that will talk back! I think NOLA is still ripe for investment and my city is my passion - GEAUX SAINTS!!
