Basement moisture/drainage issue

Hello,

I am thinking about renovating/bringing up-to code the basement unit in a triplex in East Bay, CA.

There is a sump pump inside the unit that turns on and pumps out water when the sump hole fills up. I am assuming this needs to be relocated outside the unit and also I need to add moisture barrier to the foundation/floor etc.

It's my understanding that a regular designer cannot help with this and I will have to engage a specialist to help with this. My question is, what kind of specialist? A structural engineer? A soil engineer? Some sort of drainage specialist?

Any help would be much appreciated.

If you have 1st hand experience dealing with such an issue yourself, would love to hear you experience and solution.
