LA considering requiring rental property owners - Section 8

The City of Los Angeles’ Housing Committee will be meeting on Wednesday, January 23rd at 3:00 pm to vote on whether to create a new ordinance requiring rental housing providers to accept Section 8 tenants.

This could present issues for a lot of reasons, one because of the complicated inspection and qualification process.

My feeling is this will not pass, let's pray it doesn't. I have no issue with section 8, but it takes a specialty knowledge to survive in that realm because of the government processes and managing tenants within the section 8 guidelines. This could really hurt smaller investors.

Things that are different is that section 8 requires longer 3 month termination notice, section 8 rent can be cut off to landlord with 30 days notice if tenant fails annual inspection

i also found that section 8 tenants many (not all) times are unable to come up with funds for damages which means it comes from deposit which won't be brought back up to the full deposit amount
