Looking to buy property management business in CA but no license

Hello BP,

I'm looking to buy a property management business in the state of California, but I don't have a RE broker license yet.

Will it be okay if I buy the business and hire a broker as an employee while I work on getting the license? If not, is there a way that I can bypass this limitation (e.g. partnering with another broker)?

Last but not least, if I buy the business and operate as an absentee owner (not involved in daily operation), is a license still required?

Thanks,

Jason
