Opinions needed: Nix wetbar for half bath?

Posted

We just purchased our first STR in New England and are hoping to get it up and running in a few months.

It was built in 1880, 5bdr, 4 bath, 3 stories. All bedrooms and baths are on the second and 3rd floors- so no bathroom on the main floor with the main living space and kitchen.

Previous owners turned a main floor half bath into a wetbar when they used the house as a traditional B&B. We are contemplating turning it back into a half bath (I, for one would like this and I’m sure renters would find it convenient). We’re getting central air and a few other upgrades and I wanted to get thoughts on if you’d change the wetbar back to a half bath if you were in our position… and also how soon you would do this.

We have the funds to do it now but would prefer to do it next year if possible (contractors are booked months out, we’d like to get it up and running ASAP and it would be nice to not add this to expenses right off the bat).

What would you do? Appreciate any opinions!
