Airbnb - Short Term Rental Insurance

Hey Y'all,

I am in the process of getting a family member's house permitted for Airbnb. She has concerns about liability and insurance costs. I read online that STR insurance runs from $2,000 - $3,000 dollars per year. The property is paid for and in a prime location so our only concern would be making enough to cover those costs including property taxes.

Would anyone like to share how much they pay for short term rental insurance and what it covers? Thanks in advance! - Nolan

Insurance is based on property replacement value, risk premiums in the location and overall coverage the insurance provides. Liability levels and coverage play a big part. Cheaper insurance may not cover as much. Your time would be better spent giving the address of the property to an insurance broker to get you quotes. The numbers you get from all of us are useless. I will just say that when I got quotes on my STR, some companies were twice as much as others, so shop around for sure.
