Southern VT/NH Vacation Home
Hello! I'm new here and currently looking into Southern VT or NH vacation home, that's suitable for STR, and be self-occupied during the off seasons.
Location: Southern VT or NH, coming from NYC, so hopefully southern part of VT/NH is about 4 hours of drive. Absolutely need high speed internet, hope that's not a big issue. Would like to hear what your experiences are with STR in this area.
Need recommendation for realtor, and then eventually will need helps from handyman/electrician/plumber, cleaner crew if we're going forward with STR.
specific questions I have in mind at this point:
1. Is 2/3 bedroom the sweet spot? Is cabin style (perhaps harder to find) better for STR than regular type of structure. What kind of pricing would I be looking at with 2/3 beds, $250k or $350k?
2. Pro and Cons of condo/townhome vs standalone SF. I saw a few condo that had 350-700 monthly fee, that's a big ticket in my opinion. Also read on BP that some condo wouldn't allow STR, hence wanted realtor experienced in this area.
3. Is it better to be close to town center (within 10 min driving time) but definitely not inside town center, for privacy and more secluded vacation experience?
4. Prices everywhere have skyrocketed due to covid. Is it wiser to wait after the dust settles, I know there's always going to be a group of people that believe to wait out, and then another group of people believe price will continue to increase because of covid and low interest rate... but still want to hear your thoughts.
Appreciate any insight you may share.
Thanks!
