Lake house near staten island new york

David Rabinowitz
Posted

Hi Everyone, I've been reading this forum, reading books, and listening to the podcasts  for about a year now and this is my first post.

Situation: I'm a full time RN with a family.  I own my primary residence, that I gut renovated and did almost all of the work myself.  I have excellent credit (over 800) The only debt I have is a small student loan and my mortgage.

What I'm looking for: After tons of thinking, analyzing and saving, I'm ready to buy my first investment property.  I am looking to purchase a small house or cabin on a lake somewhere within 3-4 hours of NYC.  Closer is ok.  The plan would be to furnish it and rent it out as a STVR, and have it for personal use as well.  I would most likely use it for one week in the summer, and take some spontaneous trips when there is a vacancy, as I would like to maximize cash flow.  I'd be happy to buy something that needs cosmetic work (New flooring, kitchen cabinets, appliances)
