Wink moving to subscription service May 13th

Just an FYI to all of those, like me, who use the Wink products in their rentals. Wink is moving to a subscription service May 13th. It will cost $4.99 a month. If you don't pay up, you lose all access to all your Wink enabled products. That's right, you won't have access to any of your devices after the 13th unless you pay.

This is a ridiculous move on their part and further reinforces the fact they will be going out of business soon. Part of their marketing strategy was no monthly fee, ever. It is still part of their advertising as of today.

I personally think the Wink 2 was an excellent hub with a good interface. This new policy would have been better received if I didn't have a bit over a week to figure it all out.

Luckily I bought a Samsung SmartThings hub for the eventual demise of this company. I guess I need to head over and switch it out. I guess I am lucky I didn't buy any other Wink specific products. I feel sorry for those that have a bunch of Wink products that have to replace them all or pay the freight.
