Managing STR from long distance
Hello All - I just wanted to ask how many of you guys are actively maintaining their Short Term Rental investments far away from your primary residence. We're considering to buy a Cabin in Broken Bow, OK about 3hrs from Dallas but i’m a bit concerned that we won't be there if something bad happens, how to find a cleaners, handyman etc., i dont want to pay 30-35% to PM.
What are the experiences\challenges have you guys faced?
-Asif

Looks like finding good cleaners, handyman and trusting them and taking care of them well is key. Other than them do we have to hire any manager to check between checkout-checkin to make sure? Not sure how to find someone to do this part time every time guests checkout to make sure we have no major property damages etc.,
Your cleaners will take care of that. Also i strongly encourage everyone to get comfortable with remotely managing properties. Esp those of us in the northern half of the US where STR isn't very profitable bc no one wants to visit Ohio, New jersey, indiana or nebraska in november. Waayyyy better to remotely manage year-round profitable properties down south than struggling to make money off STR in new york or new hampshire or alaska
