Colorado Springs - Short Term Rental Regulation Update

We had a big win in Colorado Springs last night. Over 370 of us formed the CS Short Term Rental Alliance to work with the city in coming up with a fair and balanced regulation. There are a few things in the regulation that need tweaking but overall, everyone was on board. However, two council members were pushing to impose a cap on the number of STR permits issued in the city and earlier had been pushing to shut all STR's down that weren't owner occupied - similar to Denver's regulation. We showed up with strong numbers at the council meeting yesterday and the council voted down any cap or owner occupant requirements. They voted in favor of the regulation as it now stands. You can read the ordinance here: https://coloradosprings.gov/planning-and-developme...

So for now at least, we remain a city open to short term rentals and pro-investment.  I believe we need to stay vigilant to stop future over-regulation, but this was a huge win for private property rights!
