California -- Title Search, unrecorded Note from 1960

We have an inherited property in CA (L.A.) where the previous owner (family member) took out a private loan in approximately 1960 that was repaid but not recorded as such. What's the approximate cost and process in CA to address receiving a clean title, or do you just present the situation to the title insurance company and need to know the T.I. company will insure the property prior to selling?
