I keep some flyers and business cards for my STRs and a map of the town.  I made fridge magnets from the brass of 8, 10 & 12 gauge hulls.  Cable tv channel guide. Some menus for restaurant/bars that my clientèle are inclined to frequent. Finally, a list of house instructions.  I list the address, wifi network name and password, trash day, rates for the house, a list of good businesses and a list of bad things.  One of the bad things is a pool hall.  It's is unemployed locals that frequent the pool hall, they have nothing better to do than pick fights with out of towners.

One of my tenants has been renting from me for the last 3 years.  He is a project manager at a local refinery.  He's been in half a dozen different houses.  He called me yesterday and said he was walking out of a restaurant Saturday night and saw a group refinery contractors walk out of the pool hall.  One guy said "I'm going back in, I'll walk back."  The project manager said to me "They must not be renting from you, because every place of yours that I stayed in had a warning sign about the pool hall."  The next morning, one guy from that crew didn't show up for work.  He wasn't in his motel either.  His wife came up from Texas and put 100's of missing person flyers on telephone poles all over town Sunday afternoon. Project manager told me the police found him the yesterday by the river.  I asked if they found him or they found his body?  The police found his body.  He was beaten to death.

Paul Sandhu strikes again with the best stories award.

My VR fridges have nothing on them. We keep some menus for places we know will deliver to the property (if there are any) in the cabinet above the fridge.
