Short Term Rental Cleaning

After offering long term rentals for years, we recently dipped our toe in the short term rental waters.  We have done all the cleaning ourselves when preparing and turning over the home and take care to do as good a job as possible for the next guest.

My question is about what is considered standard, thorough cleaning-  The most recent guests seemed to have spent a lot of time in the kitchen.  It looks like they tried to clean items, but in reality ended up putting items back that were not sufficiently cleaned.  They also put a razor back that had been used (we leave extra toiletries for guests).  I almost did not notice the razor had been used as I saw their were still two available and assumed neither had been touched.

For a house that is fully stocked, are you supposed to rummage through every kitchen item after every guest to make sure items have not been put away dirty? How do you make sure to catch everything!?

yes, I changed cleaning ladies 3 times in 6 months until I found one who will check all these details.  Sometimes it means washing the dishes a 2nd time.

From time to time I double check myself. As a guest I would not want to see anything left from a previous guest,  so I make sure that happens as a host.
