Vacation rental cleaning services

HI,

So, I've finally decided to get serious about purchasing a vacation rental home. My family has taken a trip almost every year and have booked on VRBO with great success. Time for me to get into the real estate game. We're looking at some lake property about 1.5 hours from our house, so we cannot maintain and clean the property ourselves for each tenant. Maybe a trip down every other week to check on things, but that's about it. Because so much of client satisfaction and good ratings depend on a clean, fresh home with no issues I am concerned about having a house cleaner prep for the guest.

I've hired house cleaners before for my personal house and am aware of the types of people that are out there. I am weary of putting my investment in their hands so to speak. There's lots of flaky people out there who clean houses to make a few bucks, but aren't really that committed to it as a business.

My question to other absentee vacation rental property owners is how do manage this and have a 3rd party do the prep and cleaning for you reliably?

Thanks,

Scott
