Insignia washer/dryer for STR?

Marc Shin

Are Insignia washers/dryers good enough for an STR? I found a great sale on insignia appliances at best Buy.. or should I stick with the name brand appliances (GE, Whirlpool etc)?

Hey @Marc Shin, actually the washers and dryers are manufactured by Haier. The TVs are made by HiSense.

Frankly I would avoid them and get a major brand like LG or Maytag.

The last thing you want is a brand that will take 2 weeks to get repaired if needed.

We have Maytag units in our lake house and they have been rock steady for 7 years. We have LG models in our primary home and they are also pretty great.

I would not get a washer smaller than 4.5 cubic feet and the matching dryer which is usually 7 cubic feet. You want to be able to wash a king sized comforter easily which the 4.5 does. Anything smaller makes it harder to get them washed properly.

Check out the Yale Appliance Blog - https://blog.yaleappliance.com/

They cover all sorts of topics about appliances. What I really appreciate is their reliability ratings. They are one of the largest outlets in Boston and tabulate all their service calls into usable data which they then blog about.

I rely on them for any and all appliance data.
