Going pet friendly

Hey, I’m considering going pet friendly. What are some best practices that folks enforce on guests when being pet friendly?

This will be my first foray into the universe of admitting pets so all feedback is welcome.

I feel like as STRs get more and more competitive, being pet friendly seems to be a competitive advantage in some markets

Hey @Mark Miles. We have been DOG friendly since we started. No cats.

We have found that most owners are very respectful of our place. Yes they sometimes get on the furniture, but we let the owners know that one of the ottoman's in the living room as a full compliment of furniture covers for all the couches and chairs.

So, just set yourself up with the right stuff and you will be fine. Furniture covers as I said, a couple of food and water bowls, a mat for those as well.

We also have cheap towels we bought for around 2 bucks. Really nice actually but bright yellow. My wife embroidered them with "Wipe your paws" and some dog prints on them and keep them in a basket by the door.

That, I am sure, has cut down on any dog tracking in stuff as they do get used regularly.
