Housekeeping holiday pay

Hi Bigger Pocket Members, I have a 2bed/2bath,1200sq ft. log cabin in Maggie Valley, NC. I pay my house keepers $36/hr to clean the cabin which usually averages 3 hours per cleaning.  I stay rented with maybe 9 to 10 cleanings/ per month. I made the mistake of saying I would pay the cleaner time and one half for doing a cleaning on Easter. Now she is asking me for holiday pay on every US holiday at time and one half. My question is do other members usually pay overtime for cleanings done on major US holidays and where do you draw the line on what are considered major holidays?

I'm not in the short term rental business but if they are independent contractors then you don't owe them anything. They are running a business and need to figure out their rates on their own. Unfortunately this is a case of "if you give a mouse a cookie" and it goes from there. If I were them I would charge extra for holidays.

It is free to ask so I don't blame her for trying.
