Triplex as STR?

Farooq K.
Posted

Hi,

I was looking at some properties: https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/337-N-Colorado-St-Chandler-A... , like this one, its saying 1.3M, what would the downpayment be needed for this, what type of loan would I be looking for?
Can you actually just create 3 STRs off that unit? Was looking for some better ideas for tax planning, and saw this one, but then wondering now how much money I need bring to table.
I also have another house I could sell, and maybe 1031 exchange with like 300k equity in it, so not sure if that would help.

You would need to consult with a (local) lender to see what is available to you for that property, but I am assuming 20-30%.

You would likely have 2 options with that property - 3 2 bedroom unit listings, or 1 6 bedroom listing.  You would need to study your market to see what is best.

Goo luck!
