This was sent from Vrbo on how a vacation rental outperforms a basic STR.

The average trip length for those who book vacation rentals was 2-3 days longer than the average trip length for all traveler types.

48% of those who book vacation rentals travel with family, compared to 37% of all travelers.

The average vacation rental guest group size is 3.2 people compared to 2.4 people across all booking types.

    Quote from @Michael Alexander:

Vacation rental and short-term rental is an interchangeable terms. So I'm not sure where they are going with it short of trying to differentiate how VRBO consumers are different than Airbnb users.

A vacation rental is different than a STR non vacation rental.

A vacation rental is a place you would take your family for a week to make memories. This is were you would use vacation days from work and spend vacation money having fun. It is all about the experience. This is why they bring in more money. People are ok with spending more money than usual to go on vacation and stay in a place on the beach, on the river, in the mountains, close to Disney etc. Bigger places where extended family and friends can stay together on vacation can do very well.

There is a big difference between a STR that is also a vacation rental and one that is just a STR.

    That's what these stats show.
