Dueling HVAC units - Upstairs vs Downstairs
This is just an observation, and it happens every Spring and Fall
We have a large cabin in PF. 4 Bedrooms downstairs and 2 upstairs.
So the older people likely take the downstairs bedrooms to avoid the stairs and the kids are upstairs.
Parents and Grandparents tend to be colder natured than kids.
The people downstairs turn up the heat, heat rises, and the people upstairs tend to turn on the AC. All this with it 40 degrees outside.
I know this is the cost of doing business, but it irritates me non the less.
I have the ability to disable heat or AC, i.e. only have heat available on the thermostats in the winter months. I don't do this. I just grin and bear it.
I do love my Honeywell 9000 series color touchscreen thermostats that have more functionality than any thermostat I have ever seen.
Just my rant for the day.
We get to go up and decorate for Christmas this coming Weekend!

John, if the ducting is accessible in the walls or attic you can put an in line thermostatically controlled damper in to limit the amount of heat getting upstairs. Just a thought, shouldn't cost very much, call an HVAC guy.
